With Boris Johnson's selection as the new leader of the Conservative Party, it seems that 31 October 2019 will define finally whether or not the UK leaves the European Union. It seems likely that the political maelstrom will continue for a while longer, impacting on the ability particularly of domestically focussed companies to generate profit. The cut in US interest rates announced yesterday would have been unthinkable a year ago, going to show that financial matters remain fast paced and ever-changing notwithstanding the efforts of the politicians.
